Adventures in cosleeping

with one comment

We had Pajama Day at Darren’s preschool last week, and all the children wore their pj’s to class and brought their favorite nighttime “lovies” along for show and tell.

During opening circle time, Darren’s teacher told the kids to grab their special items and gave each kid an opportunity to tell her one thing about their lovey.

When she got to Darren she asked, “So, Darren, what about you? Do you have a toy or blanket you like to sleep with at home?”

“I have a blanket…” he replied slowly, clearly confused.

“What do you call your blanket?” the teacher asked.

“Um, blanket,” he replied, and then looked up at me with the most bewildered expression on his tiny barely-not-baby face, as if to say, “What exactly does this lady call HER blanket? George? Really, not to be rude or anything, but why would anyone bother to name a blanket?”

Recognizing his confusion, teacher tried a different tactic.

“Do you have a special thing that helps you fall asleep at night?” she asked.

And my sweet little bed-sharer, confident as anything, grabbed ME. 🙂

  1. Oh, how sweet! It’s good to know that these habits pay off. 🙂
